Shawn Hall is currently a lieutenant with the Jacksonville Fire & Rescue Department assigned to the Emergency Preparedness Division

·         Shawn has been with the division for 9 years, and serves as the Training and Exercise Coordinator and Intelligence Liaison

·         Shawn, in his capacity with training and exercising, teaches hundreds of students annually on topics of emergency management including Incident Command, EOC interfacing, and all-hazards response as well as managing and facilitating exercises ranging from responses to hurricanes and other severe weather to active shooter response

·         Shawn has provided presentations to multiple groups including Emergency Managers from Japan and South Korea, briefings regarding terrorism impacts to the fire, emergency management, and EMS communities to federal and international partners including Spanish Intelligence Center for counterterrorism and Organized Crime, Minister of the Belgium Ministry of Defense, National Intelligence University, International Association of Fire Chiefs Intelligence and Homeland Security Committee, and private partners including the Food Defense Consortium, the MGM Resorts International Corporate Security, and the Pro Golf Association Championship Planning Committee

·         Shawn holds several Emergency Management related certifications and credentials including the:

o   FEMA Basic Emergency Management Academy

o   Florida Emergency Preparedness Association – Florida Professional Emergency Manager

o   Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) – Advanced Professional Series Certification

o   Credentialed by FDEM as a Planning Section Chief, Safety Officer, Liaison Officer, and Incident Commander

 

Presentation Overview:

The presentation will provide an overview of how property managers and building tenants can prepare before, during, and after disasters. We will review the differences between flood zones and evacuation zones and determining your zones based off property locations. Information will also be provided on the importance of having an evacuation plan, a building emergency book or plan, and resources that property managers and tenants can utilize for preparedness, response, and recovery efforts.
