Some things to note before your volunteer shift:

  • For safety and liability reasons, volunteers must be at least 16 years old to volunteer in our warehouse.
  • Anyone ages 16 or 17 will need to provide a government-issued form of identification to a Volunteer Coordinator upon arrival for proof of age.
  • Closed-toe and closed-heel shoes are required footwear in the warehouse.
  • Everyone – regardless of vaccination status – must wear a mask while volunteering indoors with Feeding Northeast Florida.
  • We provide complimentary cold bottled water for our volunteers, but we do not provide food. Volunteers are welcome to bring snacks to enjoy in our designated break area.
  • Our warehouse does not have heat or A/C so it is best to dress for the weather. The warehouse is typically a few degrees cooler than the outside temperature.
  • During the shift, volunteers may be asked to lift boxes, bend and twist, stand for significant amounts of time, and do other physically demanding tasks. Anyone with a physical limitation that would prevent them from completing those tasks may want to reconsider whether volunteering with us is appropriate.
  • Our warehouse is located at 1116 Edgewood Ave. N., Units D&E, Jacksonville, FL, 32254.  The entrance to our facility is on 1st Street.  You will turn onto 1st Street from Edgewood Ave. N. and immediately turn right into the fenced warehouse complex.
  • Volunteer parking is in the grass lot past the warehouses. The entrance to our warehouse is up on the dock behind the 4 white stationary tractor-trailers. We provide cold bottled water for all volunteers throughout the shift.
